Beyond discovering the
mystery and wonder of La Ciudad Perdida (The Lost City), this excursion
will take you down the pre-Hispanic pathways of the Tayrona people
and lead you through a series of breathtaking landscapes that start
at the sea level and finish at 1100 meters above, where you will
encounter Tayrona communities and get to know a little about their
distinct culture.
4 Nights and 5 Days
ITINERARY:
DAY 1: SANTA MARTA- MAMEY REGION- FIRST TURCOL CABIN
Departure at 9 AM from the city of Santa Marta to the Mamey region in a jeep, trip lasting approximately 3 hours. From a small town in Mamey of people from the interior, begin a walk ascending to the first cabin, which has hammocks to sleep in for the night, and some natural pools to refresh yourselves in.
DAY 2: MUTANZHI- GABRIEL CABIN
Breakfast at 7 AM, departure at 9 AM, walk over a short crossing, then descend into a small valley formed by the Buritaca River, along the way visit a small indigenous village known as Mutanzhi, which transverses the Buritaca River and a river bank for outside settlers. Walk for about 3 ½ hours to the Gabriel cabin to stay the night, to sleep and to enjoy some natural pools formed by the Buritaca River.
DAY 3: KOGUI VILLAGE- ROMUALDO CABIN
Breakfast at 6:30 AM, departure at 7 AM. Walk through.
areas reserved for the indigenous Kogui and Asario of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta Natural National Park, passing by various indigenous homes, in some areas finding some footprints left by much earlier inhabitants of the region. Cross the Buritaca River to arrive at the Romualdo cabin to stay the night, dinner served at 6 PM.
DAY 4: SURVEY OF CIUDAD PERDIDA
Breakfast at 8 AM, then walk for approximately 2 hours, reaching CIUDAD PERDIDA, take a tour of the archaeological park, see the different adaptations to the environment made by the Tayrona, ceremonial houses of the current indigenous population, as well as the lush vegetation that forms an amazing view. At the site, you can also bathe in the Well of Youth, which, according to legend, can have amazing results. After finishing the tour, return to Gabriel cabin.
DAY 5: GABRIEL CABIN- MAMEY- SANTA MARTA.
Breakfast at 6 AM, departure at 7 AM, walking for approximately 6 to 7 hours, rest for one hour in Mamey, afterwards take the jeep in Mamey to Santa Marta, rest a while at the entrance to Tayrona Natural National Park for refreshments, continue to Santa Marta, arriving around 4 PM.
